What's happening in the field of control systems? Computer&AUTOMATION has summarized current products from the field of control technology in a picture gallery.

The new embedded PC programmable in Codesys V3 and the associated I/O modules from the Kuhnke FIO family are designed to reduce the space required in the control cabinet. In addition to the modules with PLC function, the supplier also provides I/O expansion modules with up to 32 I/O points on a terminal block. The cabling is connected via separate plug-in terminals so that replacement or pre-wiring can be carried out without any problems, according to the company. The modular system can be used both as a stand-alone PLC and as a decentralized Ethercat I/O. Ethercat ensures communication between the modules and with the connected fieldbus world. The Ethernet protocol with 100 MBit/s is maintained right down to each individual terminal. This means that there is no loss of time due to complex protocol conversion and real-time capability with a short response time as well as synchronicity through 'distributed clock' signals can be realized. According to the manufacturer, the system is particularly suitable when small motors need to be controlled, a cam controller is required or customer-specific local processing of the process values is required.
