Over 1.5 million employees worldwide, high innovative strength and top value creation: the electrical industry is one of the most important pillars of the German economy. The ZVEI has compared it with other sectors at a national level.

11,825 national patents were registered by the German electrical industry in 2014 - a record figure. According to the ZVEI, the number of patent applications from the industry is also above average at European and global level. One reason for this is certainly the large number of R&D employees.
