For gas engines on ships

With the help of the Bachmann "M1" controller, Avat has realized marine-approved controllers for gas and dual-fuel engines. The Bachmann portfolio is supplemented by special engine control components in the same form factor.

The first modules include an anti-knock function as well as speed, power and mixture control. A module for analyzing cylinder pressure signals is also available, which can be used to implement cylinder pressure-controlled engine operation. All components are suitable for environments from -20 to +70 °C and are designed for typical engine vibrations. The customer receives the required documentation and FMEAs for the marine classification. They are involved in the configuration of the system right from the start and receive a control solution tailored to their motor and application. The application is available as an OpenECS on request, so that the engine manufacturer can change or add to the functions themselves. The control of gas engines and the monitoring of operating parameters are generally more complex than with diesel units. In addition, it is important to keep the combustion process under control even with changing gas mixtures and to avoid misfiring, knocking combustion or increased nitrogen oxide emissions.
