Moxa 's EDS-4000/G4000 series of managed Ethernet switches are the first IEC 62443-4-2 certified Ethernet switches to be certified by the IECEE (International Commission on the Rules for the Approval of Electrical Equipment) for their built-in safety. During their development, Moxa adhered to the strict software development cycle described in the standard.

The individual Ethernet switch models of the EDS-4000/G4000 series offer multiple interface combinations from eight to 14 ports and a range of options such as Fast Ethernet, Gigabit, 2.5GbE uplinks, SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) and PoE connections according to IEEE 802.3bt. This enables more devices to be connected to one switch, especially in applications that require high performance and a high data rate.

Moxa has certified the EDS-4000/G4000 series Ethernet switches for NEMA TS2, EN 50121-4 to meet the requirements of a wide range of industrial applications. Further certifications according to IEC 61850-3/IEEE 1613 and DNV are to be completed in the second quarter and certification according to ATEX Zone 2 and Class I Division 2 have been announced for the third quarter. The EDS-4000/G4000 Ethernet switches are also equipped with the Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain functions, which enable rapid network recovery - recovery time < 20 ms for 250 switches - and ensure smooth operation. Redundant network operation is possible via RSTP (Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol) and STP (Spanning Tree Protocol).

With an improved graphical web interface, Moxa offers intuitive control for the configuration of the new Ethernet switches and network management. The 90° rotatable power supply module offers on-site technicians flexibility when installing the Ethernet switch and maintaining the network. In addition, the LED indicators on two sides of the housing help technicians to recognize the status of the network devices, making their work easier.

"Recently, we have observed that it is becoming increasingly difficult for our customers to connect their devices while meeting a variety of critical infrastructure requirements," said Gary Chang, Product Manager at Moxa Networking Co. Ltd. "Critical infrastructures require advanced networking solutions to strengthen operational resilience and create future-proof networks. With our portfolio of EDS-4000/G4000 series switches, we are translating the advanced networking concept into concrete networking functions so that our customers can easily build secure, reliable and broadband industrial networks."
