SMARC modules
Operate two Ethernet ports directly from the module
Kontron presents the SMARC-sAMX7, a new SMARC 2.0 module. Thanks to its economical NXP i.MX7 dual-core and single-core configurations, it is characterized by its ...
... low power consumption, which should enable the efficient development of intelligent devices with a compact, fanless design. The option of operating two Ethernet ports directly from the module is intended to simplify networking. The dual-core version of the SMARC module delivers a clock frequency of 2×1 GHz per ARM Cortex-A7 processor plus 200 MHz per M4 processor, while the single-core version achieves 800 MHz. It offers up to 2 GB of DDR3 RAM, a dual-channel LVDS interface, up to two Gigabit Ethernet ports, three PCI Express ports and four USB 2.0 ports. A 64 GB eMMC 5.0 onboard memory serves as mass storage. Uboot is used as the boot loader and Yocto Linux serves as the operating system. The module can be used in an extended temperature range between -20 °C and +85 °C and offers support for Kontron's own security solution Approtect if required. A security chip permanently integrated into the system then protects data and applications using end-to-end encryption.
