The modules, which are operated with 24 V, are connected to each other via a top-mounted plug connection and can be configured using a graphical configuration tool. In order to achieve industrial suitability in accordance with EN 61131-2 or IEC 61131-2, the Raspberry Pi Compute Module was used as the basis. According to Kunbus, the module, which looks similar to a notebook RAM bar, is limited to the essentials and does not have any external interfaces.

The Raspberry Pi Compute Module provides the basis for equipping the Raspberry Pi with robust and industrial-grade peripherals that meet all important industrial standards. On the software side, the IPC has a specially adapted Raspbian operating system, which has been equipped with a real-time patch, among other things.
