The Raspberry Pi is being used more and more widely in industrial electronics and has now arrived in the world of PLC systems: Mass presents the new RPi07-Xtend development as a first expansion stage. In addition to the usual functions of digital and analog I/Os and various interfaces, the complete PLC controller also includes an operating and display system as well as the previously separate programming device as an "all-in-one" system. The robust stainless steel housing contains a 7-inch widescreen multi-touch LCD with a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels for 10-finger operation, embedded in an aluminum front frame. The CPU unit is the Raspberry Pi '3B+' with its ARM Cortex A53 with 4 x 1.4 GHz. With the integrated I/O and interface expansion module 'PiXtend v2-S' from Qube Solutions, this panel PC is a complete "low-cost PLC". The CPU contains 1 Gbyte RAM, a micro SD card (16 Gbyte or larger) with operating system and application software. The board also has connections for HDMI, CSI camera, video/audio and post connectors for I²C. The Ethernet has 1 x 10/100/300 Mbps; there are also four USB 2.0 ports. The PLC is designed for eight digital inputs, four digital outputs, four PWM/servo outputs, four 230 V relays, two analog voltage inputs and outputs, one RS232, real-time clock (RTC) and four GPIO. The connection voltage of the industrial power supply unit is 12/24 V(DC). The 'Raspbian' operating system offers support for Linux, Codesys, FHEM, Phyton, Node-RED and OpenPLC. The device protection class is IP54.
