The fanless Compact S industrial PCs from Syslogic are now available with Intel Atom x7-E3950 or x5-E3930 processors (Apollo Lake I). The new Intel Atom Apollo Lake processors with 14 nm technology offer improved graphics and video performance compared to their predecessors. This makes the devices particularly suitable for process monitoring. The graphics functions have largely been taken over from the Core i processor series. The processors support the common video encodings H.264, MPEG2, VC-1, WMV9, VP8, JPEG/MJPEG, H.265 VP9 and MVC as well as the VT-x and VT-d virtualization functions. A DVI-D interface is available as a standard video output. A display port can be added as an option. This can also be used for video surveillance. A 2.5-inch solid-state drive is connected via a SATA 3 port for data recording. The processor of the dual-core version (x5-E3930) has a clock frequency of 1.8 GHz at 6 W, the quad-core version (x7-E3950) over 2 GHz at 12 W. The systems are passively cooled and, according to the provider, are suitable for maintenance-free 24/7 operation in a temperature range between -40 and +70 °C. Thanks to the robust IP40 housing, the industrial computers can even be used in harsh environmental conditions.
