S3 Semiconductors introduces a smartedge platform that enables customers to develop cost-optimized, high-performance, customized single-chip solutions for the outer edges of the IoT network. ASICs based on the platform are said to offer a competitive advantage over multi-device solutions by providing higher performance and lower power consumption through higher integration, while reducing bill of materials costs. The Smart Edge platform provides a cost-effective way to integrate sensing, calibration, control and communication functions into a single ASIC. This high level of integration is designed to provide higher overall performance, especially when switching between analog and digital domains, while reducing power consumption. The solution is designed primarily for autonomous edge devices that are expected to operate for several years on a single battery.
