Microsystems competition 'Cosima'Intelligent bicycle pedal among the winners
As part of the 'Cosima' student competition, the VDE and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research awarded two first places this year - for example to the team developing an intelligent bicycle pedal that can be used to upgrade any bike to make it smart.

... the special prize from Pepperl+Fuchs, Lukas Liedke, Armin Meyer, Christof Reuter and Stefan Hotz from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Their project 'heat_it' is an intelligent bite healer and is used to treat mosquito or other insect bites. It uses heat to relieve itching and can be worn on a key ring. It becomes intelligent when connected to a smartphone. The app warns of particularly large numbers of mosquitoes.
