The special prize from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, worth 2,000 euros, went to Robin Breitfelder (15), Jamal Lkhaouni (15), Tim Jungnitz (16) and Maximilian Krebs (16) from Lindlar Grammar School in 2016. They developed an intelligent rollator. This can recognize obstacles and detect its position. It also has an emergency function: "If the rollator tips over and the user falls, a fall alarm is triggered," said the jury, describing the concept behind the award-winning microchip.
