Siemens / Hannover Messe 2019From Edge to Bitcoin!
No, Siemens' trade fair appearance at this year's Hannover Messe does not suggest any absolutely revolutionary innovations! - Rather, the charm of the presentation lies in the continuous expansion of digital solutions for the implementation of Industry 4.0.

With the Simatic Micro-Drive servo drive system, Siemens is expanding its drive portfolio in the field of safety extra-low voltage for DC/EC motors from 24 to 48 volts. The individually combinable system with UL-certified components consists of the PDC (Profidrive Control) servo inverter, flexible motors and plug-in cables. The simple connection to Simatic controllers significantly reduces engineering time and integration into Siemens automation technology via the TIA Portal simplifies commissioning and servicing. Communication takes place via Profinet IRT with Profisafe and Profidrive profiles. The new Safety Integrated function SLT (Safely Limited Torque) ensures a limited torque by monitoring the motor current during operation. The universal Simatic Micro-Drive system is available in four housing sizes for motor outputs from 0.05 to one kilowatt. The 4-quadrant drive has an integrated brake chopper for every motor output. The disengageable brake chopper enables energy recovery during battery operation. All motion control functionalities are supplemented by control systems such as Simatic and Simotion. The Safety Integrated functions STO, SS1, SLT, SLS and SSM are included in the Simatic Micro-Drive F and FIO variants. The SBC safety function is implemented in the FIO variants. They use the safety I/Os of the FIO variants during operation. All safety functions can be activated via the TIA Portal. All operating data is transmitted directly from Simatic Micro-Drive to the controller and can be transferred to cloud platforms such as MindSphere via MindConnect.
