CLPA

Meinrad Happacher,

CC-Link plus TSN

The CC-Link Partner Association - CLPA - now announces the finalization of the specification for 'CC-Link IE TSN'.

The Partner Association describes CC-Link IE TSN as a next-generation network that builds on the current CC-Link IE technology and adds Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) technology. The details of the CC-Link IE TSN specification will be published on the CLPA member site.

As IIoT systems have become mainstream in recent years, the market demand for devices capable of general Ethernet communication has increased. The demand for highly functional motion control equipment and protocol implementation for various types of components has also increased. These are all reasons why CLPA is now incorporating TSN into its network strategy.

The features of CC-Link IE TSN stand out: the network supports both 1 Gbps and 100 Mbps. The improved communication performance of CC-Link IE TSN offers cycle times of less than 31.25 µs for motion control.

The CLPA partners involved in the formulation of the specification are already planning corresponding product developments. Compatible products are expected to be available from 2019.
