One arm instead of two was also the motto at ABB's press conference. Per Vegard Nerseth, Managing Director of the Robotics division (right), together with President Sami Atiya, presented the new single-arm version of the collaborative robot 'YuMi', which ABB launched on the market in 2015. The 'IRB 14050' weighs less than 10 kg, has seven axes of motion and is expected to be available to order from November 2018.

At Automatica, ABB also announced a new generation of robot controllers, the 'OmniCore', which is characterized, among other things, by a 50% reduction in space requirements compared to the current generation. With the 'SafeMove2' safety software solution, the new controllers are also capable of transforming any connected industrial robot into a collaborative robot.
