The Danish company Universal Robots is considered one of the pioneers in lightweight robots. Its CTO Esben Østergaard presented the next generation of UR robot arms at a press conference. New features of the so-called 'e-Series' include a force-torque sensor integrated into the tool flange, which is intended to give the arm greater precision and sensitivity, which are required for use in an even wider range of applications. Programming has also been further simplified. Last but not least, 17 safety functions, including adjustable stopping time and braking distances, are designed to facilitate collaborative automation. Certified by TÜV Nord, all these functions comply with the machine safety standards EN ISO 13849-1 and EN ISO 10218-1 (Cat. 3 PLd).
