FreeAdvance is a freely programmable PLC for cooling systems in the laser industry, tool and machine construction and filtration from Hyfra. The company is thus expanding its Flexx technology-based PLC application for speed-controlled compressors in process cooling. The controller enables individual adaptation to customized cooling solutions and is available in scalable standard versions. According to the supplier, even the standard version offers extensive control and analysis functions. Over thirty values, including cooling system pressures, temperature, number of compressor cycles or power quality, are recorded at ms intervals and compared with target values. In the event of deviations from the tolerance ranges, the PLC sends alarms and also enables predictive maintenance. For later diagnostic purposes, the data is also stored in the history database at 5-s intervals. All interventions in the configuration or control system, such as parameter changes, retrievals via USB or remote maintenance and all alarms, are also stored here in a traceable manner. The graphic display of the machine to be cooled shows all processes precisely on the touch panel and enables the fault location to be localized directly in the event of an alarm. Universal symbols and multilingual, intuitive menu navigation are available for navigation.
