ForeScout Technologies has unveiled a series of innovations in ForeScout CounterAct 8 for device visibility, visibility and control. These capabilities enable organizations to mitigate risk, reduce their attack surface and automate incident response across the extended network - from on-premises systems to the data center, cloud and critical infrastructure, according to the vendor. The enhanced device visibility platform offers greater scalability, cloud-based device insights, IoT device assessment and flexible, centralized licensing. This enables it to see and monitor more than five billion IP-networked enterprise devices - traditional, mobile and virtual devices as well as IoT devices and operational technology. The platform provides better insight into a range of devices that are rapidly growing in networks: industrial and critical infrastructure systems, IPv6 addressable devices and devices managed by cloud controllers such as Cisco Meraki. New IoT device risk assessment capabilities allow organizations to identify devices with default or insecure credentials and automate policy actions to ensure compliance and mitigate risk. The platform also offers purely passive discovery and profiling capabilities that provide organizations with real-time intelligence on OT and industrial devices without creating operational risk or compromising reliability.
