Imos Gubela is launching round plastic lenses on the market that consist of a large number of tiny and precisely positioned micro-optics. These are arranged close together. Depending on the application, they have a diameter of around 0.2 to 2 mm. If the resulting microlens array is placed in front of a lens, a light beam is specifically optimized and shaped, resulting in exceptionally precise edges. Depending on which light image is to be generated - square, rectangular, oval - the arrays are hexagonal, cubic or concentric in shape. These optics are used in lighting or camera systems. While such attachment lenses have been very expensive up to now, as they are made of glass, Imos has developed a manufacturing process for producing them in special plastic.
