Heidrive is expanding its modular servo system to include motors with safely mounted encoders. According to the manufacturer, sufficiently dimensioned shaft and housing connections as well as documented installation ensure that faults are excluded. The motors with safely mounted encoders are a drive system in accordance with EN 61800-5-2. If the fault exclusion is applied, the attachment of the encoder housing to the motor shaft can withstand a 20-fold overload. This is recorded during the assembly process, evaluated and assigned to the respective serial number. The motors are available with the SKx36S Hiperface encoders as single and multi-turn encoders with 128 sine/cosine periods per revolution, as well as the EKx36-2 Hiperface DSL encoders, also as single and multi-turn encoders with a resolution of 18 bits per revolution. The HMP motors can also be equipped with safely mounted encoders with resolvers. This variant is also available as HMP04. Thanks to the safe mounting, the safety integrity level of category 2 (SIL 2/PL d) can be achieved with a probability of a dangerous random hardware failure between 10-6 and 10-7. SIL 3/PL e is possible with the resolver by additionally monitoring the excitation signal in the inverter.
