Portwell has announced the XM-1 IoT gateway. The modular design allows so-called hot-plugging: communication modules can simply be unplugged from the system chassis. According to the manufacturer, the modular design of the gateway allows the system integrator to select and insert the communication module based on actual application requirements instead of preparing multiple hardware gateways. The gateways support four different communication technologies: ZigBee, LoRa, Wi-Fi and 2G/3G/LTE. There are two board variants to choose from: An ARM processor with low power dissipation and an x86 processor with higher computing power. Conventional interfaces such as RS232/422/485 and a 4-port Ethernet switch can be integrated as an option.
