With ZFokus, senwork offers a 3D camera that works according to the depth-from-focus method and is used in clocked inline processes or for offline inspection in the high-resolution 3D evaluation of small and very small components. To calculate the 3D image information, the camera records several hundred images at different distances from the component, typically in 1 to 2 seconds, in order to calculate a 3D height map of the component based on location-dependent focus values in the image. When designing the device, particular attention was paid to a robust design suitable for industrial use in order to meet the requirements of industrial inline measurement technology. The system processes several gigabytes per scan in parallel. According to the provider, the 3D data obtained is highly detailed, especially for small image fields. In addition to the 3D depth image, the camera also provides a superimposed sharp image as a 2D image, which can be used for additional 2D evaluations, such as measuring the distance of the component.
