Sony Image Sensing Solutions is offering the XCL-CG510, a cube-shaped camera module that is part of the 5.1 MP series of Camera Link image processing modules based on the GS-CMOS modules. According to the supplier, the 29 mm × 29 mm × 30 mm module reduces the footprint by a third (34%) and the space requirement by 57% compared to its two-cable 154 fps sister module XCL-SG510. The color/SW modules are based on a 2/3 Pregius GS-CMOS sensor. The module offers a burst trigger function that takes continuous shots at the trigger time and allows the exposure interval, number of exposures and exposure time to be specified. The cube-shaped camera also has an area gain function, which enables minor adjustments to the brightness of up to 16 individually set areas. Other features include defect correction, adjustable 9-pattern shading correction and a 3×3 pixel filter to reduce noise, enhance edges and extract contours. The output is 35 fps with 2448 × 2048 pixels. The modules with C-mount lens have a switchable base clock of 75/45 MHz and can be controlled both via hardware and software.
