SEW-Eurodrive - IE5 synchronous motors for inverter operation
With the DR2C.. series, SEW-Eurodrive is expanding its portfolio to include synchronous motors for pure inverter operation. The new motors comply with efficiency class IE5. The switch from line-commutated motors or line motors operated on the inverter to motors developed for pure inverter operation offers significant potential for more efficient energy use. The company emphasizes that the synchronous motor design means that the speeds are not load-dependent. Interlinked system components can therefore be designed without power in the transition. Another key advantage of synchronous motor technology is the virtually lossless rotor and therefore the low thermal load. A cooler motor has a longer service life. From spring, the motors will be available with an output of up to 3 kW and an efficiency of up to 91%. Towards the end of 2023, outputs up to 11 kW in IE5 up to 94.5 % will follow.
