The PFC100 and PFC200 controllers from Wago not only encode data in the controller using SSL/TLS 1.2, but also transfer it securely to higher-level systems via VPN tunnels. They offer a cross-platform real-time Linux which, as an open source operating system, is long-term available, scalable and update-capable and supports tools such as Rsync. Accordingly, they can also be used as a secure gateway. As fully-fledged Linux computers, the controllers also support the Codesys PLC runtime. In terms of interfaces and fieldbuses, CANopen, Profibus DP, Devicenet and Modbus-TCP, for example, can be operated independently of the manufacturer. The controller family is set up for the implementation of safety requirements in accordance with the ISO 27000 series. It offers onboard VPN functionality based on the so-called 'Strongswan Package' and the OpenVPN package, a secure communication solution for Linux operating systems. In addition, the data can already be encoded in the PFC200 controller using SSL/TLS 1.2 encryption. It then establishes a VPN tunnel directly via IPsec or OpenVPN and transmits the data wirelessly to the cloud if required.
