Symmedia, provider of digital service solutions for machine and plant manufacturers, is expanding its hardware range with the Symmedia SP/1 Plug&Work Box Industrial, a solution that meets the industry's high security standards. Within the application, the box assumes the function of a server. The box runs Linux including a firewall. According to the provider, Industry 4.0 processes can be carried out cost-effectively and securely with the box. Users benefit, for example, from the Linux distribution, which acts as a gateway, WLAN router and firewall. The box is also equipped with 2 GB of RAM, a 24 V power connection and two USB 3.0 ports. The device also has a top-hat rail adapter, which makes it easy to install in the control cabinet. Registration of the server installed on the box with the 'Symmedia SP/1 Central Server' is automated: as soon as a network connection is established, the user can work with 'Symmedia SP/1'.
