The magnetic "X-class" encoders from Bogen Electronic are based on a pole pitch of 80 µm. Using a specially developed technology, the X-IKS9 and X-IKS15 measuring heads read this pole pitch at a reading distance of up to 200 µm and achieve system accuracies of better than 5 µm. According to the supplier, the magnetic encoders are almost on a par with optical measurement solutions thanks to higher accuracy, smaller structures and a greater read distance. With greater design freedom for magnetic scales and insensitivity to contamination, the encoders represent a cost-effective alternative for demanding measuring tasks, according to the manufacturer.
