FSI 900 rotary encoder series, Leine&Linde

With the "FSI" series, Leine & Linde presents an encoder series with integrated safety functions. The FSI 900 model monitors rotary movements and ensures that none of the set limit values are exceeded. The encoder can independently comply with the limit values set by the user for functional safety. The safety functions can be easily adapted to the safety requirements of the respective encoder application. The encoder can also be used to monitor safety during acceleration and standstill. This means that the functional safety requirements of the Machinery Directive are met without the system's control unit having to be safety-certified. The safe scanning function of the encoder records clear absolute values for each position and, according to the supplier, remains reliably in its position even when the machine is restarted. As the model offers integrated fail-safe relay outputs, the use of separate safety relays, mechanical limit switches and separate overspeed monitors is no longer necessary. The relay outputs are connected to the safety applications of the user's choice. In the event of a power failure, the machine goes into the fail-safe state specified by the user, as the safe relay outputs interrupt the control circuit. Safe limits can be configured via the "FSI Monitor" software. The software setup can be transferred to other units if more than one machine is to operate with the same limits.
