Congatec presents a ready-to-use design study of a 10 GbE-capable micro server carrier board. The modular server board in the 5x5 inch Mini-STX form factor (140 mm x 147 mm) offers high scalability across all suitable embedded server processor sockets thanks to its COM Express Type 7 slot. According to the manufacturer, this enables 10 GbE edge node performance upgrades at low cost, as almost all investments in the real-time system design of the 10 GbE edge nodes can be reused. The performance of the new edge server board in the 5x5 Mini-STX form factor is provided by the COM Express Type 7 module conga-B7AC based on the Intel Atom C3000 processor. With processor power consumption from just 11 W TDP, the board offers 4x 10 GbE real-time network performance and up to 16 cores. According to the manufacturer, this makes it ideal for parallel processing of many small data packets. The carrier board can be equipped with eight different Intel Atom server processors - from the 16-core Intel Atom C3958 to the quad-core C3508 processor for the extended temperature range (-40°C to +85°C). All variants offer up to 48 GByte of fast 2400 DDR4 memory, which can be equipped with or without Error Correction Code (ECC) depending on customer requirements. The 10GbE interfaces are implemented via SFP+ cages as standard.
