Weidmüller has added a strain gauge module to its 'u-remote' remote I/O concept in IP20. Strain gauge bridges are used to measure weights, torques or vibrations. With two 24-bit resolution channels, the new strain gauge module offers an accuracy of up to 0.01 % (±0.01 % FSR). An independent body can perform the calibration via the u-remote web server, as the sensors are set and the strain gauge module is calibrated independently of each other via the integrated web server or the hardware configuration of the control software. The password-protected calibration via the web server also has a documentation function for backing up the settings.
The module is housed in a compact housing with a width of 11.5 mm. In addition, up to four sensors with 350 Ω can be connected in parallel. The strain gauge module therefore enables the parallel measurement data evaluation of a maximum of four load cells on one channel. Individual channel diagnostics such as wire break detection are possible for each module and for each of the two channels.
