Firmware V3.0 for the communication processors, Siemens
© Siemens

With the firmware V3.0 for the Simatic S7-1200 communication processors (CPs), Siemens is expanding the selectable telecontrol protocols for a flexible choice of control center connection. The firmware supports several telecontrol protocols for different telecontrol applications with just one module. Users decide on one of the available protocols during commissioning via the TIA Portal engineering software "Step 7 V14 SP 1. With the "CP 1243-1", DNP3 and IEC 60870-5-104 are available in addition to TeleControl Basic. The "CP 1243-8 IRC" offers Sinaut ST7 as well as DNP3 and IEC 60870-5-104. The "CP 1243-8 IRC" also offers an RJ45 port for connecting external routers such as Scalance M and, with optional plug-in TS modules, a second WAN connection for path redundancy. The firmware also supports alarms via SMS or e-mail for simple message or alarm systems, regardless of the "Telecontrol" operating mode. This means that the CPs can also be used without a connection to a Telecontrol control center. The CPs also include extensive diagnostic functions and the option to save the alarm history. All information from the CPs can be accessed via the PLC's web server and within the PLC program.
