The Ricoh-SC10 from Stemmer Imaging is a so-called 'human assistance' camera. It combines a camera with a 1/3-inch color CMOS sensor, image recognition software and control in a compact, stand-alone system and helps users to analyze manual assembly processes and execute them error-free. Work instructions can be loaded into the camera and displayed on a monitor while the camera scans the workpiece. A PC is not required. The employee follows the assembly instructions on the screen while the system compares the work steps with the stored template and only releases the next work step once the previous one has been carried out correctly. If a work step has been carried out incompletely or incorrectly, this is displayed to the user so that they can correct the error. If it has been carried out correctly, the user can continue with the next work instruction. Each completed and checked step is saved in a CSV file. The system can also recognize and check character strings. A keyboard or barcode reader can be used to enter part or serial numbers and user IDs. The camera system includes image processing software for recognizing and checking patterns, colors and textures.
