WEG has further developed the WG20 geared motors and certified them in accordance with Directive 94/9/EC and 2014/34/EU for Zones 2 (gas) and 22 (dust). Previously, explosion-proof geared motors were realized in the company by mounting IEC adapters with flange-mounted motors (B5) installed on them. Direct mounting of the motor improves efficiency and reduces the size of the geared motor itself. Delivery times are also shortened, as the motors are always in stock and can be quickly adapted for the respective hazardous area when an order is placed. The motors can also be operated with frequency inverters if the specified drive parameters are adhered to. The explosion-proof 'WG20' geared motors are currently available for output powers from 0.12 to 30 kW. With the ongoing expansion of geared motors up to 18,000 Nm, explosion-proof geared motors for the entire power range up to 75 kW will also be available in the near future.
