Igus has had the 'E2/000' energy chain series in its range for over 15 years. With the E2.1, there is now an energy chain that also consists of two parts - a chain link and an opening bar. The latter can be opened and swung open on both sides of the outer radius using a screwdriver or a special chain opener, which is included with every initial order, and then removed completely. The opening bars can be closed by hand. Using a screwdriver, it is also possible with this generation of energy chains to lever open the opening bars from the side of the chain links, which is advantageous when the chains are fitted and accessibility is restricted. According to the manufacturer, a 'brake' at the chain link stop ensures very smooth chain operation with less vibration and noise. Compared to the previous generation, the energy chain is around 50 % quieter as a result.
