If there are a lot of bats in the vicinity, they have to switch off the turbines as a prophylactic measure. With the 'BATmode-System', the start-up now offers an acoustic bat monitoring system that enables the extremely selective recording of bat calls and is specially optimized for recording bat activity in the rotor area of the wind turbine. As the system provides wind farm operators with a statistical weather-dependent prediction of bat activity, the turbines no longer have to be shut down pro forma, which means huge cost savings.
