Siemens is launching new automation controllers for rail applications. The rail-tested and approved Siplus extreme rail devices are based on the current 'Simatic S7' controller generation and are specially designed for the conditions in rail transportation. The range includes the Advanced, Basic and Distributed Controllers 'Siplus extreme Rail S7-15002', 'S7-1200' and 'ET 200SP' as well as the 'Siplus HMI KP300 Basic Rail' panel for operating and monitoring. The devices can be used in the train or on the track bed for automation tasks around the rails. Typical applications include HVC systems (Heating Ventilation Climate) in the train as well as signaling systems, door drive systems on platform screen doors or sanding systems and lighting systems in the depot. The rail devices replace the previous 'Siplus S7-200' and '-300' technology. The TIA Portal engineering framework is used for project planning and commissioning the devices.
