Eaton has developed the intrinsically safe, high-resolution Ethernet camera MTL RugiCAM IS (Intrinsically Safe) as part of the 'Crouse-Hinds' series. The IP camera can be connected directly to a compatible IS Ethernet system using a Cat5e cable up to 100 m away. While other IP cameras are housed in an explosion-proof enclosure, making them large and heavy, this IP camera is lightweight and compact; in addition, the IS approval enables safe live network maintenance without the need for a gas clearance certificate. The rugged camera is available in anodized aluminum or powder-coated steel; a 6 mm thick tempered glass window provides protection in harsh environments. The camera is optionally available with infrared or LED light to increase its low light capabilities. The camera also offers an HD resolution of 1080 pixels and enhanced image processing to enable clear visibility of operations. It supports direct video streaming via an H.264 compressed video format and motion JPEG with user-selectable frame rates to reduce network bandwidth. A micro SD card slot can be used for additional back-up.
