"Computer" - with this element in our magazine name in 1998, we wanted to take account of the IT influence in automation technology that was already emerging at the time. However, the expected IT influence took much longer than we expected at the time.

I am a Germanist by training with a penchant for the successful combination of words, sentences and content and their effect. In addition, the world of technology has always had a very special appeal for me - because let's be honest: anyone who has been editor of Computer&Automation for 22 years can't do it without enthusiasm!
- Enthusiasm for developments that cannot be stopped - such as the PC, which has made its way into the control level of production facilities worldwide. Or the topic of Ethernet in the factory, which caused heated discussions at the end of the 1990s - and is now the basis for data continuity from the sensor to the cloud.
