At Norway's joint stand, selected companies will demonstrate the country's strong commitment to a low-carbon society. They underline Norway's central role in developing essential solutions for industrial transformation and achieving net zero emissions. "Norway is committed to being an important partner in the green transition and is pleased to present Norwegian solutions and showcase what Norway has to offer as a partner country at Hannover Messe," says Gunnhild Brumm from the Norwegian business development organization Innovation Norway.

Energy and Industry 4.0

Norway will be represented with a national pavilion in Hall 12 (Energy Solutions) and with a pavilion specifically on the topic of hydrogen in Hall 13. The national pavilion will focus on clean energy and Industry 4.0. Key players here are Statkraft, Equinor, Yara and Siemens.
"Norway and Germany are important trading partners and we have entered into strategic industrial partnerships in the field of renewable energy and green industry. We hope that the Norwegian presence at Hannover Messe will strengthen this close cooperation. German companies should use this opportunity to get in touch with some of Norway's strongest pioneers in the energy and industry sector," Brumm continues.

On the opening day of the Hannover Messe, the Norwegian pavilion will be visited by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Minister of Trade and Industry Jan Christian Vestre. Energy Minister Terje Aasland will also be present.

Clean energy: container ship powered by ammonia

27 of the 40 Norwegian exhibitors at the trade fair are represented at the joint stand in Hall 12, many of which are presenting clean energy solutions. These are of crucial importance for the transport sector. The Norwegian company Yara, for example, is enabling the world's first environmentally friendly shipping route between Norway and Germany with the Yara Eyde - an ammonia-powered container ship.

Norway is the country with the highest penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) in the world and has a high level of expertise in the application of batteries, both for shipping and land transportation. Siemens partner Morrow Batteries, whose production is 100 percent powered by renewable energy, is building the world's first large-scale LMNO (lithium manganese nickel oxide) battery.
Hydropower is still the backbone of the Norwegian energy system. The Norwegian company Statkraft has 130 years of experience in the energy sector and is Europe's largest supplier of renewable energy. In Germany, Statkraft develops, builds and operates plants for hydropower, wind power, solar power, gas power and green hydrogen.

Norway is an important energy supplier for Europe. The country supplies the continent with natural gas and is pursuing the goal of supplying low-carbon and green hydrogen in the future. Equinor, one of the main players in the Norwegian offshore sector, is increasingly investing in renewable energy such as offshore wind power, hydrogen and solar energy to increase energy production and enhance energy security.
