Dr. Gunther Kegel, Chairman of the ZVEI Automation Association, believes that the automation industry is very well positioned and expects single-digit sales growth this year - in both factory and process automation.

Imports: In 2016, Germany imported automation products worth €22.2 billion, which corresponds to an impressive 7% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. A stable 51% of imports to Germany once again came from EU28 countries. According to the ZVEI, the growth rate was 9.8%. Imports from the rest of Europe increased by 7.8% in 2016. Imports from China were 15.3% higher than in 2015. However, imports from the USA only increased by 3.5%.
