The international design competition 'Formula Student Germany' is to be expanded in 2017 to include a technical discipline for driverless racing cars. The organizer is relying on concept proposals from the universities for implementation.

In the skid pad discipline, the achievable lateral acceleration was determined while driving in a constant circle, for which the drivers had to drive through two overlapping circular rings with an inner diameter of 15.25 m and a track width of 3 m twice each.
