The German economic engine is stuttering and employees are increasingly worried about losing their jobs. According to the latest 'EY Job Study 2019', employees in the mechanical engineering sector in particular are very willing to change jobs. Many no longer consider their job to be secure.

Markus Heinen adds: "HR departments cannot ignore the expectations of employees and should create flexible structures within the company that provide the right solution for every life situation. This includes career opportunities as well as the option of taking a career step back - for example in the event of pregnancy or caring for relatives. However, this does not relieve employees of their responsibility: they must also prepare themselves for the challenges posed by digitalization and be prepared to undergo further training and education. The faster the world of work changes as a result of digital innovations, the more important it is to be prepared for lifelong learning.
