Sales forecast of minus 5 percent

According to the VDMA Robotics + Automation trade association, the robotics and automation industry in Germany expects sales to fall by 5% to EUR 14.1 billion in 2026. The main reasons for this are weak demand from key customer industries, geopolitical upheaval and continued unfavorable economic conditions.

The Lapp Group achieved sales of 1.93 billion euros in the past 2025 financial year (October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025). Driven by growth in Asia and America, the Stuttgart-based family-owned company is thus compensating for its decline in sales from the previous year and growing by around six percent.

Application center for AI and quantum computing

The vision of the planned innovation center for artificial intelligence and quantum computing in Frankfurt is to bring future technologies into commercial application. Following the pre-opening of the center in collaboration with the start-up factory Futury, a further step has now been taken on the way to the planned opening in spring 2026: the appointment of Robin Schmidt as Managing Director by the House of Digital Transformation (HoDT), which is in charge of the project.
