Safety in harsh environments

With the LBK radar system, Leuze is expanding its safety range with a safe 3D system for monitoring hazardous areas, even in environments with dirt, welding sparks, sawdust, smoke or moisture.

The system developed by Italian manufacturer Inxpect S.p.A. and distributed by Leuze safeguards hazardous areas near machines and systems. The radar system reacts to movements and generates a shutdown signal as soon as a person enters the monitored area. The 3D solution only interrupts operating processes if someone is actually present in the danger zone, thus avoiding unnecessary shutdowns. The radar technology used reliably distinguishes between people and static objects because it even detects people standing still in the protected area. Static objects such as pallets or material containers can even be left standing in the protected area; they do not cause the system to be interrupted.

The safe radar system is primarily used for restart protection and for monitoring areas that cannot be seen. Users can adapt it to their individual requirements by adjusting the number and position of the sensors, the adjustable range and the selectable opening angle. To secure larger rooms, up to six radar sensors can be interconnected via a controller.
