Equip individual controllers with cyber security

Grossenbacher is presenting a new modular hardware and software system at the SPS. This enables the company to provide individual controllers for end users in accordance with the latest cyber security specifications as per IEC 62443.

This applies to Yocto and the boot system, for example Secure Boot, as well as to the hardware level. Users can also access cybersecurity functions from AWS and Microsoft Azure. Regardless of the chosen cybersecurity strategy, Grossenbacher's modular system enables updates that use temporary access keys (tokens) and certificates for secure authentication. The public key infrastructure (PKI) required for this is structured in such a way that users gain access to the corresponding key vaults. This enables independent further development of the images or applications without incurring security risks during key management. In addition, the necessary certificates are already installed during production, so hacks can be ruled out before commissioning.
