CRA guide for Powerlink checked
TÜV Rheinland has audited the "CRA Guide for Powerlink" from B&R. The guide is one of the first independently audited technical documentations for the implementation of the EU Cyber Resilience Act in automation.
The CRA obliges manufacturers of networked products to meet higher safety requirements from the end of 2027. The audited guideline describes specific measures for the secure operation of Powerlink-based systems and is aimed at OEMs and system integrators. The document includes architecture and security concepts as well as practical recommendations for integration and proof of conformity. The aim is to reduce the implementation effort when introducing CRA-compliant systems.
The basis for this is B&R's IEC 62443-4-1 certified development organization. In software development, the company has achieved the maturity level "Maturity Level 3", which confirms the consideration of safety aspects across all phases - from design and implementation to testing and maintenance.
The guide is intended to provide companies with structured orientation for adapting existing automation systems to regulatory requirements.
"Transparency is the focus for us when it comes to cyber security. A mere reference to CRA compliance is not enough for us; system integrators need a concrete roadmap. With the publication of our CRA Guide, we are actively promoting the topic of cyber security in the automation industry. Our aim is to be a reliable and strong partner for our customers and at the same time make a tangible contribution to sustainably strengthening cyber security in the European market," says Stefan Schönegger, CTO ABB Machine Automation Division (B&R).
