The robotics association IFR has published figures on service robotics: in 2017, sales of service robots for professional use rose by 39% to USD 6.6 billion. The total number of units sold grew by 85%. Logistics robots are in particularly high demand.

European service robot manufacturers play an important role on the global market: around 300 of the now more than 700 registered companies that supply service robots come from Europe. North America is in second place with around 250 manufacturers and Asia with around 130. In addition, around 30% of service robot suppliers are start-ups with an age of five years or less.
