Automatica, the biennial 'Trade Fair for Automation and Mechatronics', will exceed the number of exhibitors from 2014 this year. Computer&AUTOMATION shows a selection of the new products presented by the 825 or so exhibitors in Munich in a picture gallery.
Schunk is launching a mobile, anthropomorphic gripper arm on the market that can be intuitively programmed virtually, optionally reacts to collisions and enables different gripping operations in immediate succession. The Powerball Lightweight Arm LWA 4P and the 5-finger hand SVH can be commissioned using all standard web browsers. An app is available for this purpose, which can be used on smartphones, tablets and PCs. Virtual sliders and an integrated 3D viewer enable axis-specific programming. The arm can optionally be equipped with an integrated, current-based force control. To speed up the changeover between different locations, complete procedures can be saved, called up depending on the situation and quickly adapted to the respective application scenario. Thanks to 24 V technology and fully integrated electronics, the lightweight arm is mobile and can be powered by a rechargeable battery. The lightweight arm has a dead weight-to-weight ratio of 2:1 and a dead weight of 12 kg (without base). It can handle loads of up to 6 kg dynamically and covers a gripping radius of approx. 700 mm.
