The kick-off event for the 'Aquias' research project took place at the Fraunhofer IAO on February 2 and 3. Its aim is to enable broad groups of employees to participate in attractive work in human-robot collaboration.

"In order for robots to be controlled intelligently, the data of the production system must be available flexibly," explains Christian Henkel, project manager at the IPA. The institute is developing a digitalization roadmap for this task, in which the networking of production IT is shown step by step. The roadmap is intended to provide production companies with orientation for the integration of robotics into production IT. Furthermore, the aim is to support connectivity to Industry 4.0, for example through the possibility of gradually integrating further cyber-physical systems into the digital factory.
