Grasp like a gecko

With the Single Pad Gecko gripper, OnRobot is launching a compact version of the 'Gecko' gripper, which is particularly space-saving and lightweight. It is designed for three different payloads.

Its special holding technology is based on the way gecko feet work and, unlike conventional vacuum grippers, also allows automated handling of perforated workpieces such as drilled circuit boards. The 'Single Pad Gecko' is available in the versions SP1, SP3 and SP5, which are named after their respective load capacity in kilograms.

The gripping technology is modeled on the way geckos climb. It works with millions of microscopic hairs that are located on the gripping surfaces. When pressed onto a flat object, they generate adhesion through van der Waals forces. The gripper is particularly suitable for handling flat objects with shiny surfaces such as tiles or displays. It can be attached to any standard collaborative robot arm using OnRobot's One-System-Solution.
