Based on the Windows 10 IoT Enterprise operating system, firmware version 5.0 for remote HMI from Stahl can be adapted to all display sizes from resolutions of 1024 × 768 pixels. It is designed to increase the ease of use and operational reliability of input terminals for remote control of process control systems installed on central servers or virtual machines. The protocols available for fail-safe remote access are RDP 10 and RealVNC 5.3 as well as Emerson DRDC, which is widely used in the process industry. According to the manufacturer, integrated network diagnostics and the watchdog function for monitoring the data connection as well as dual Ethernet support contribute to high transmission security. USB and keyboard filters such as the EWF lockdown, which prevents tampering with the registry or file system and resets the system to the initial configuration after each restart, protect against manipulation attempts. The user interface displays relevant key data concisely on the dashboard, from the current connection status with IP address and transfer rate to user registration and system information. Dual-screen displays are also supported. To establish a connection via Ethernet and WLAN, connected workstations can be called up via the address book menu.
